The Trend That’s Redefining Women’s Fashion & Firearms

Why Concealed Carry Fashion Is Having a Moment—And How Girls With Guns Helped Lead the Charge

When DailyMail.com published their recent article on the rise of concealed carry fashion, one message rang loud and clear: women are no longer waiting around for the firearm industry to “get it.” They’re creating solutions—and communities—for themselves.

Among the innovators featured was our very own Jen O’Hara, co-founder and CEO of Girls With Guns Clothing, who shared her perspective on what it means to live a lifestyle where fashion meets functionality.

“I don’t leave home without [my firearm],” Jen told the Daily Mail. “So it just kind of became a lifestyle.”

Jen and her co-founder, Norissa Harman, launched Girls With Guns in 2009 from their hometown in Northern California. What started as casual apparel for female hunters quickly grew into a nationwide brand offering range wear, concealed carrywear, hunting clothing, and everyday lifestyle gear for women who are confident, capable, and carry with purpose.

“There wasn’t a plan for us to do this full-time or ever even get paid,” Jen said. “But we saw a need—because the products out there weren’t built for us.”

🔍 A Shift in the Industry

According to research highlighted in the article, nearly half of all new gun owners between 2020 and 2021 were women. With that growth came the need for better-designed gear—not just scaled-down men’s items.

“Now everybody has jumped on that trend,” Jen noted. “There are so many more options out there than there were in 2008, when we first started bringing the company together.”

Girls With Guns has always been at the forefront of that innovation. Years before the competition caught on, GWG was the first to incorporate snap hems and flexible, adjustable waistbands in women’s hunting pants—features that are now available in our award-winning Carbine Range Pants, which won the NRA Bullseye Award for outstanding product design.

💡 Built by Women Who Live It

“I couldn’t even tell you how many outfits and different ways that I carry,” Jen shared. “Because it’s just about the functionality: how am I going to accessorize my firearm? It became part of my everyday wardrobe.”

That insight—coming from a firearms instructor and mother who lives on 18 acres—drives everything we make. Whether it's range days, church safety teams, or running errands with your little ones, women need apparel that works with real life.

“I carried my firearm maybe five to six times out of ten before kids and before Covid,” Jen added. “But now? Every time. I feel like we live in a little bit of a different America.”

The built-in holster on the Eclipse Leggings allows for secure, comfortable carry—even when life doesn’t slow down.
