How to Use the Flashbang Holster: Your Guide to Confident Concealed Carry

What Is the Flashbang Holster?

The Flashbang Holster is a revolutionary concealed carry solution for women. It attaches to your bra band, and tucks your firearm underneath the band horizontally for deep concealment. The Flashbang is precisely molded to fit each gun individually. This means it snaps down around the trigger guard securely so that the trigger cannot be accessed until the gun is drawn. The Kydex holster also covers the slide of the gun to help protect it from sweat and oils from your skin.

The holster and gun are held in place by the squeeze from your bra band and are concealed horizontally just under the breasts. When you pull down to draw your gun, the gun and holster pop out from underneath the bra band. This allows the holster to flex open, releasing the gun.

Available in a huge selection of colors, beautiful boutique prints, and luxurious suede wrapped variants, it’s crafted from high-quality Kydex and suede to ensure safety and comfort. Explore the Flashbang Holsters.

Step-by-Step Guide: How to Use the Flashbang Holster

  1. Pop your unloaded gun in the holster and tuck it under your bra band: Ignore the strap for now, and just leave it open/dangling. Position your holster so that your bra band is doing all the work of holding it in place. You want it to be comfortable AND secure.
  2. Notice where your snap is located: The part of the snap that's attached to the holster is the indicator of what carry position will work best for you. Above the bra band = High Carry Position. Below the bra band = Low Carry Position. Directly behind the bra band = Custom Carry Position (most common)
  3. Choose your strap: Determine which strap length fits best around the center of your bra band. We'll use this strap in the next step.
  4. Attach your strap of choice: Depending on the Carry Position you chose previously, change the direction and placement of your strap.
  5. Experience the magic: Pop your gun in the holster, tuck it back under your bra band into that perfect comfy carry position, snap the strap closed around your bra band and watch it disappear!
  6. Practice Drawing: Lift the hem of your shirt with your non-dominant hand, grip the firearm with your dominant hand (nice and high! It's ok to have your hand against the holster.  You don't want to have to shift your grip after you draw), and pull firmly down-and-out to release it. Usually your holster will come out from underneath your bra band as you draw, and that's a good thing as it helps release the gun from the holster. Practice with an unloaded gun until you feel comfortable with the drawstroke.
  7. Reholster Safely: Use your non-dominant hand to hold and support the holster from the back (imagine holding a taco shell). Its important to be aware of your gun's muzzle direction as you reholster.  Sometimes this means aligning your body so that the gun is pointed in a safe direction, but it ALWAYS means you need to put your gun into the holster butt-first.  Once you get the butt of the gun in place, simply snap the barrel up into the holster, and then re-tuck the holstered gun up under your bra band.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the Flashbang Holster Work with My Body Type or Bra?

The Flashbang Holster is designed to work with a variety of body types and bras, including underwire, wireless, strapless, and supportive sports bras. Women of all shapes and sizes love their Flashbang Holsters.  Because every body is different, and clothing as well as firearm choice impact concealment, the easiest way to get personalized answer is to test the fit for yourself. The process is quick and easy. Watch our fit test video for guidance.

Is the Flashbang Holster Comfortable for All-Day Wear?

Yes, the Flashbang is designed for all-day comfort. The Suede Wrapped Teddy Edition is especially gentle on skin. Be sure to choose supportive bras to keep the holster secure as slipping and movement decrease comfort.

Is It Safe to Carry a Gun in a Flashbang Holster?

Absolutely. The Flashbang’s Kydex shell securely covers the trigger guard, preventing accidental discharge. The holster’s retention ensures the gun stays in place, even during high-impact activities like running or CrossFit.  Because of the Flashbang's unique design, the holster protects access to the trigger even during the draw until the tension of your bra band causes the holster to pop loose from your gun. At this point in the draw, your gun is pointed forward and there is strong momentum out and away from your body.

How Do I Draw and Reholster with the Flashbang Holster?

To Draw: Lift the hem of your shirt with your non-dominant hand, grip the firearm with your dominant hand (nice and high! It's ok to have your hand against the holster.  You don't want to have to shift your grip after you draw), and pull firmly down-and-out to release it. Usually your holster will come out from underneath your bra band as you draw, and that's a good thing as it helps release the gun from the holster. Practice with an unloaded gun until you feel comfortable with the drawstroke.. Practice with an unloaded gun to build muscle memory.

To Reholster: Use your non-dominant hand to hold and support the holster from the back (imagine holding a taco shell).

Will the Flashbang Holster Print Under Clothing?

The Flashbang’s low-profile design minimizes printing, even under slim-fitting tops, crop tops or light colored fabric. Layered or slightly loose clothing enhances concealment. The holster tucks horizontally under your bra band, working with your curves for discreet carry.

How Do I Clean and Maintain the Flashbang Holster?

Regular maintenance is important to maintain the long life and safe function of your holster.

Every day, when you put on your gear, check your gun and holster. Look for wear, dirt, or any problems that need fixing. Tighten up any hardware that might be loosening up. (Pro tip: you can use a dot of nail polish on the threads of screws to hold them in place so that they don't tend to move after you've set up your holster the way you want it)

The suede on our Teddy-style holsters is easy to keep clean. Because of it's natural ability to help with breathability, it tends to stay fresh on it's own even after repeated wears. But if you decide it needs more than just airing out overnight, you can wash your holster in the sink with warm water and your favorite shampoo. Rinse well and let it dry overnight. The next morning, you can use a towel or even your fingernails to fluff up the suede fibers. It will smell amazing and feel like new.

Kydex is beautifully low-maintence. All you need to do is wipe it down inside and out with a damp cloth as needed. Be sure to let it dry thoroughly before re-holstering your gun.

A word to the wise...kydex is thermoformed plastic. This means that once it reaches a certain temperature, it becomes soft and moldable. Yes, you CAN reach that temperature in a hot car and cause your holster to warp, so please don't leave it in a place where heat can ruin your gear!

Troubleshooting Common Issues

  • Holster Feels Uncomfortable: Since the Flashbang completely covers the trigger, it can be safely carried in a variety of positions. Feel free to experiment with angles, placement, adjustments to the left or right of center....as long as you can safely draw your gun, your carry position is all about finding what's most comfortable! Remember that your bra band is the workhorse of this setup. If you find that your holster won't stay in place, and you've tried adjusting your carry position, typically it's an indicator that your bra band is either too loose or too stretchy. A common mistake is trying to switch to a different strap length to resolve issues, and in reality, your strap only serves to keep the holster from coming out with your gun when you draw. When it comes right down to it, we're trying to strap a large chunk of metal to our bodies. Think about how it feels to get used to a new watch. It takes some time, and maybe some adjustments, and very quickly you start to feel naked when you forget your watch. Holsters are similar. There are a ton of minor adjustments you can make that change the way a holster feels, but sometimes the solution is to take a little time to get used to the new sensation. Since placement and comfort are such an individualized issue, we offer virtual one-on-one consults to help you dial it in perfectly!
  • It's hard to draw: The grip of the holster is the only thing fighting against gravity to retain your gun so it has to be snug, but the good news is there’s a technique to it, and once you practice that technique a few time it’s super easy! As you draw, pull your gun in a down-and-out motion so that the holster comes out from underneath your bra band.  This will reduce the tension and make it easier to draw. Make sure that your drawstroke is firm and quick so that it causes the holster to "pop" off your gun. A slow or weak draw will create more tension. Be confident, sister! These two videos are a great visual demonstration of the draw technique.

  • Why are the snaps so difficult?:The Flashbang has a safety snap to keep it from coming off by accident. If you’re not familiar with them, they can be difficult. The trick is to hook the little tooth inside the snap first, and then roll it shut. To open the snap, you pull the tab end and "peel it like a banana" Watch: How Do the Snaps Work?
